Journey Homes Brings Smiles to the Teddy Bear Picnic

At Journey Homes, supporting our local communities is something we take pride in and last year’s Teddy Bear Picnic, organised by Sunbeams, the local parent and toddler group at St Peter’s Church, South Weald, was a perfect example of that spirit in action.

The picnic formed part of the South Weald Festival, an annual community event and the Patronal Festival for St Peter’s Church. Originally a church flower festival, the festival has grown into a village-wide celebration featuring flowers, events, and activities around the church and parish. Held in late June, it’s a local tradition celebrating St Peter, combining church services with community fun, and bringing families together across the village.

Held on Saturday 27th June 2025, the Teddy Bear Picnic welcomed families from across the area for a morning of laughter, play, and togetherness. Children explored the farm grounds hosting the picnic, enjoying a wide variety of activities, while parents and carers relaxed with tea, coffee, and biscuits, catching up with friends and meeting new families in the community.

To add an extra touch of joy, Journey Homes gifted a branded Teddy Bear for every child attending. It was wonderful to see the children’s faces light up as they received their cuddly companions — a small gift that brought big smiles and lasting memories.

Sunbeams runs every Friday during term time at the Belli Centre at the back of St Peter’s Church, offering a safe and fun space for children aged 0–5. Sessions include play, crafts, songs, and snacks, giving parents and carers the chance to connect while their little ones enjoy a variety of activities.

As part of our commitment to the community, Vicarage Wood – Journey Homes’ newest development in South Weald – hopes to be home to many of the families attending Sunbeams, contributing to the local village life and strengthening the sense of community for years to come.

Events like this highlight why Journey Homes is proud to support local communities. From schools to family activities, we love playing a part in creating moments of joy, supporting local initiatives, and helping families make memories in the places they live.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Teddy Bear Picnic – we’re delighted to have shared in your smiles and laughter, and we look forward to supporting many more community events in the future.
