Last summer, Journey Homes was delighted to take part in the South Weald Festival 2025 Charity Golf Day, held at Brentwood Golf Club. The day formed an important part of the wider South Weald Festival, which raises vital funds for St Peter’s PCC, South Weald, and St Peter’s Church of England Primary School.
This year’s festival was a wonderful success, raising almost £12,000 in total, and we are proud to share that the golf day was once again the number one profit-maker — contributing almost £2,500 on its own. A huge thank you goes to everyone who attended, played, organised, sponsored a hole, donated prizes or supported behind the scenes.
A day of great golf, great company and great prizes
Players were welcomed in the morning for registration and refreshments before heading out to the course, with live scoring keeping the competition fun and engaging throughout the day.
In true festival style, it was about far more than just golf. From a relaxed BBQ lunch with strawberries and cream to a packed prize table and an impressive trick-shot show complete with video highlights and shot tracers, there was something for everyone to enjoy. One of the standout moments was the headline Hole-in-One prize of £25,000, which kept the excitement high at every tee.
Prizes on offer ranged from golf breaks in the UK and abroad to premium equipment and fun competition awards such as Best Team, Worst Team, Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin.
Community at the heart of it all
What truly makes this event so special is the people behind it. Two of the South Weald Festival’s regular attendees, Paul Blyth and Andrew Blewitt, also run their own annual charity golf days, supporting causes that are very close to their hearts.
Many of the golfers involved in the South Weald Festival already support their events each year. If you’re looking to get involved in more charitable days, both Paul and Andrew would be delighted to welcome new players. The prizes at their events are always exceptional, and the days are known for their fantastic atmosphere and strong sense of camaraderie.
Why Journey Homes gets involved
For Journey Homes, supporting the South Weald Festival goes far beyond a simple sponsorship or a day on the course — it sits at the very heart of who we are and what we stand for.
Our involvement in the local community is also reflected through our thoughtfully considered development at Vicarage Wood — a private collection of just eight carefully designed homes nestled within the village. As we shape this new place for families to settle and grow, it is incredibly important to us that we contribute positively to the community that already exists here, both now and long into the future.
In addition, Journey Homes was pleased to contribute branded golf tees and pencils for the day — a small but meaningful way to support the event and ensure our brand was part of the experience for every player on the course.
We believe that creating beautiful homes goes hand in hand with supporting the wider community that surrounds them. From supporting St Peter’s School and local groups, to sponsoring community events and encouraging local employment, our commitment extends well beyond the build itself.
Events such as the South Weald Festival Golf Day perfectly embody this ethos. They bring people together, raise vital funds for important local causes, and strengthen the bonds that make a neighbourhood feel like home. Being able to stand alongside local residents, businesses and community leaders in support of such meaningful initiatives is something we are incredibly proud of.
Save the date for 2026
Plans are already underway for next year, and the South Weald Festival 2026 Golf Day has been confirmed for Friday 26 June 2026. Make sure to get the date in your diary — if this year is anything to go by, it will be another fantastic event not to be missed.
For now, we’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the 2025 golf day such a success. Journey Homes is proud to play a part in such a special local tradition, and we look forward to supporting it again in 2026.
